* Update *
We now have 6 healthy baby chicks. And they are ADORABLE! Elias loves to feed and water them. It has been a lot of fun. Now we are hatching Canada Geese eggs. A Canada Goose mother was killed yesterday and the nest of eggs was brought to my house. They are now incubating.
Our first two chicks! Hatched May 7th 2009~
Elias wants to crack all the eggs open and "get em out".
There are still several cracking their way out!
More pics to come.

Oh, I'm so excited for you guys. My chicks are coming at the beginning of June... but I would really love to hatch my own. Maybe I will get there in a few years.
Little Laura Ingalls is still in the shape of an egg. Adorable! You need to keep them in Elias' rood to keep them wahm.

I am honored. Okay, LIW is honored.
HOW cute! I love little chick-i-dees!(That's what he said)
so, now that you named one of the chicks Rachel Carson, do I get one? just Kidding. Her middle name should be molly.
Glad to hear so many have hatched!
that is so great you have so many little chicks...and Canada geese on the way--wow! If you need more names, you can always go biblical/scriptural: Eve, Ruth, Ester, etc. Those ladies are old school but awesome. Anyhow, you are such a fun mom and such a great citizen and caretaker of earth's stuff!
I love this!! I was sad to see on a prior post that Hilary had passed. You at least spelled it right though. What a great mommy you are!
Awww! CUTE! And I always love naming animals because I don't have to worry about people making fun of names I've chosen for them. :)
WOW ! I have never seen a chiclen so small __ right out of the egg.
It looks like Elias is incredibly gentle with his baby chicks.
Why is Elias' Grampa wearing his cashmere sweater in the swimming pool?
